Nerd?.......Who Me???

So there have been many occasions where I'll be talking with Maralise about something that I find highly interesting, i.e; Star Trek, graphic novels, and the like.  She'll always turn to me and say "you're such a nerd".  I'll say, "who me?" Or I might say "no I'm not", and reply with "it takes one to know one!"  So after many years of taking this abuse I decided to do something about it.  Using all my nerd power I went into a photo editing program and made myself a nerd logo.  A calling card of sorts.  Like the bat signal, but in card form so it can fit in your pocket.  Because we all know the bat signal can't fit in your pocket.  It took me a couple of iterations, but I reached what I think epitomizes the core of my true nerd.  That and how this persona will be perceived by others.

I should give Maralise credit, she has been very supportive in my collecting of graphic novels (comic books for those novices out there), anime movies, and Star Trek series over the years.  Most other people might not have been so willing to let their home be invaded by such collection.  Perhaps if you really think about it maybe she's the nerd, and I'm the normal one?  Yeah, I'll go with that.

Behold, my unending knowledge of everything!

Where to begin....

Where to begin.....  It's been way too long since last I was last on this blog.  I'm sure it has to do a little with sentiment, and a need to share our life with our friends.  First I'd like to say I'm a true soft core Facebook fiend, with that let me open the first meeting of Facebook not so anonymous; my name is Brendon.  (Wait for everyone else to say, "Hi Brendon")  Hello everyone.  I'm here to say how much I've been on and using Facebook.  It's been almost five years now and it's getting to the point where I'm getting a little over saturated with that side of the world.  Don't get me wrong I enjoy checking up on friends long time past, seeing their family photos both wedding and baby.  I get a kick from George Takei's posts or more specifically his comments on his fans' posts.  I have gotten one or two of my "likes" posted through his page. Which has on some level has been quite exciting.  Since Facebook has come out of the proverbial closet it's gone the way of My Space.

To most of you this is absolutely no surprise.  They've got to make their money somehow right?  How can we argue right, I mean look how Über connected we all are now.  Just this afternoon Maralise's father and Adrian were going through a giant pen box seeing which pens worked and which didn't.  They came across one that had silver ink, and I commented that M used that pen to write letters to me while she was attending college.  That's right letters!  We wrote back and forth to each other for a few years actually, that and a combination of phone calls, but I digress.  Connectivity is everywhere and right now, right now at this very instant as I type I'm am cutting my Facebook usage.

All my friends can still contact me and I will see their messages, but I am going to re-embark on blogging.  It's a cathartic venture that will take you all on an exciting ride though our happenings.  With the boys growing up, M and I working on our careers I'd like to in a way document our life.  I know, I know it all sounds a bit wishy washy, but that's how I roll.

Catch you all out there in the digital ether.

Dansen in America

Our visit with Dansen just ended, he had to get going to meet up with his Mom. We first met Dansen about 8 years ago at Fairhaven College at Western here in Bellingham. He was helping a friend of his and ours Nicky on a theatre/ film project. We later found out that he and Nicky had a radio show called Japan Radio on the college station . As the years went by we would hang out at the radio station from midnight to 2 a.m. every Sunday with Nicky and Dansen. We'd work on movies together and even fill in for Dansen on his show when he'd travel to Japan during the summer he now permanently resides. Even though our visit was not very long we where quite happy to see him after all these years. He's now off to see some friends of ours who live down in Oregon. Have a safe journey home my friend.

Are you smarter than a four year old??? We're not!

Adrian just moments ago came over and announced to us that "the capitol of Burkina Faso is Ouagadougou!" We had to ask him what continent it's on...look it up. He's right!

Busy, busy, busy!

We have had a lot going on recently. M went back to work a few weeks ago, and Kieran started in daycare two days a week. Both are going well, but keeping us very busy. M has updated her flickr page with some more pictures of the boys. They are growing up so fast! We are having a lot of fun. Adrian is such a good big brother and Kieran is about as relaxed and easy going as they come.
